Valance should fall on the outside of the window. 2. Choose fabric from swatch table and select using drop-down menu. 3. Enter Depth or Clearance.      --This is the amount of space you will need away from the wall. (3 inches is standard.) For example 3" depth may be needed so the valance fits over wood trim around the window.  Where as, 1 1/2 inches depth is applicable for a window that has no wood trim around the window.) OPTIONAL:   Add Lining.  Lining may be necessary; if you like a color of a fabric, but it does not provide enough light filtering qualities or insulation for heat/cold control.               - Privacy Lining                - Room Darkening Lining Photo below shows lining upgrade on a roman shade, but is also available for custom valances.
